Serie A club AC Milan saw Rafael Leao depart for Turkish side Galatasaray late in the summer transfer window. Following his debut for the Turkish team, Leao has spoken about his exit from Milan.

Addressing the press before the Champions League match against Sporting, Leao was asked about his departure from the Rossoneri and addressed the topic directly.

He stated, as reported by TMW, that Ruben Amorim's assistance was instrumental in his move from the San Siro: “There are moments in life when change is necessary. I spent seven years at AC Milan, and I felt this summer was the right time for a fresh start. I had a conversation with Amorim, and I was always transparent.”

Leao shared that the Milan manager had a positive influence on him during their brief interaction.

“I hadn’t met him before. I had only heard positive feedback from my national teammates who had played under him; they always spoke highly of him as an excellent coach and a remarkable person.”

Leao emphasized that Amorim fully supported his decision to leave Milan without any objections.

“Our relationship was excellent in the short time we worked together. I expressed my desire for a change of environment, and he respected my choice. I leave with a sense of happiness and a feeling of having fulfilled my duties.”

He also conveyed his appreciation to Milan for their role in his career development.

“It's a club that has given me a lot, and I've been able to contribute in return. Now, as a Galatasaray player, I hope Milan can continue to perform at a high level and achieve significant success.”
