Serie A giants Juventus are reportedly accelerating their pursuit of a new goalkeeper. While a move for Aston Villa's Emi Martinez had seemed plausible, the club is now said to be leaning towards signing Tottenham Hotspur's Guglielmo Vicario.

Previously, reports indicated that Juventus had re-established contact with Aston Villa regarding Martinez, particularly as the Birmingham club was reportedly nearing a deal for goalkeeper Zion Suzuki. However, recent updates suggest a change in direction.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Juventus have expressed reservations about Martinez's recent injury history. Consequently, they have pivoted their attention to Vicario. Despite medical assessments suggesting that Martinez's finger injury will not require surgery, the Italian international has become Juventus's primary target.

As a result, discussions with Tottenham Hotspur concerning the 29-year-old shot-stopper are now underway. The deal is understood to be at a critical juncture, with Juventus believing they are in a strong position to secure an advantageous agreement. The coming hours are expected to be pivotal as Juventus pushes to finalize a deal.
