Conor Benn Describes Weight Cut as a Descent into Hell

Despite the immense challenges of his weight cut, Conor Benn showed little outward indication of being burdened by the occasion.

He appeared relaxed and in good spirits, taking time to speak with the British media present at the UFC's Meta Apex, with his father, the renowned British boxing legend Nigel Benn, by his side.

The former two-weight world champion has been a visible figure throughout fight week, even though he had previously suggested he would step back from his son's boxing career.

However, there's one person Conor Benn has yet to encounter: his opponent.

Garcia failed to appear for a scheduled face-off at Mandalay Bay on Tuesday. Benn was informed in advance that the champion would not be attending.

Benn attended regardless and playfully squared up to his 62-year-old father instead.

He referred to Garcia as a "strange geezer" and stated that the no-show had been detrimental to the champion.

"I'm not bothered, I've dealt with worse," Conor Benn added. "Whether he shows up or not makes no difference to me.

"Regardless of how difficult the weight cut is or anything else, we owe it to the public to deliver what the fans desire. It's a lack of discipline and professionalism."
