Dillon Danis Not Banned by RAF Despite Brawl with Khamzat Chimaev's Team
Despite a recent altercation at a Real American Freestyle (RAF) event involving Khamzat Chimaev's team, Dillon Danis is not facing a ban from the organization.
The incident occurred during a wrestling match between Danis and Chimaev at RAF 10. After Danis made a move from his back, Chimaev responded with a leg kick, which escalated into a confrontation between both parties' corners.
Danis has a history of being involved in altercations, both in and out of competitive settings, with a notable instance being the aftermath of his boxing match against Logan Paul. However, according to RAF co-founder Chad Bronstein, Danis's conduct away from the cameras has been commendable.
"You will see Dillon Danis back in RAF," Bronstein stated in an interview with MMAFighting. He emphasized that while there were incidents that required intervention, they do not warrant a ban. Bronstein elaborated that Danis has been consistently respectful to everyone within the organization when not in the spotlight.
"I work with Dillon, I’ve worked with Dillon behind the scenes a lot. So has Izzy, and so has our team, and he’s very respectful to everybody in our organization, but we did have to deal with certain things with him," Bronstein explained. "But I’m not going to say I’m banning him and that we won’t see him on the stage, because I do think he’ll be back eventually. And, again, for wrestling and everything that he’s done with us, he’s been nothing but respectful in our organization."
Bronstein acknowledged that the brawl was an undesirable event and confirmed that the matter has been discussed with Danis. He expressed optimism for Danis's eventual return to the RAF stage.
Danis has a record of two losses under the RAF banner. He was defeated by Chimaev in their recent match and previously lost to Colby Covington in March.
It remains to be seen how soon RAF plans to feature Danis again.
