Hokit is scheduled to face Ciryl Gane for the undisputed heavyweight title at UFC 334 in November, following Tom Aspinall's relinquishment of the belt. Hokit secured this title opportunity with recent victories over Curtis Blaydes and Derrick Lewis in 2026. While his in-cage performance has been successful, his behavior outside the cage has drawn mixed reactions from fans and UFC management.
Previously, Dana White stated he dislikes Hokit's public statements and anticipates managing his conduct should he win the title. These comments followed Hokit's controversial remarks about former U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama after a fight at UFC Freedom 250.
Hokit Claims to be Dana White's Unacknowledged Favorite
During an interview on The Ariel Helwani Show, Hokit shared his perspective on White's public stance.
"Dana has to say that," Hokit remarked. "Deep down, I'm Dana's favorite fighter; he can’t wait for my fights. Ultimately, I didn't join this sport to be liked by anyone. The whole world could be against me. Whether you like me or not, that's how it is. I'm not here to be accepted; I'm here to put on good fights. If you call my name and have me sign the contract, I'll deliver good fights. That's the most important thing. It's human nature to want to be liked and have fans, but I'm not going to put on a fake smile and act a certain way just for that."
