Joe Rogan Urges Sean Sharaf to Consider Retirement After Major UFC Upset
Sean Sharaf, a heavyweight in the UFC, secured a massive upset at UFC 331 last month. Mere seconds into his bout against Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson, Sharaf delivered a knockout, marking Steveson's first professional MMA defeat.
This outcome surprised many, as Steveson, who debuted earlier this year, was heavily favored. Sharaf entered UFC 331 with a 0-2 record in the promotion.
Now enjoying newfound attention after his UFC 331 win, Sharaf, a former U.S. Marine, has acknowledged contemplating retirement. He has stated he does not aim for championship titles.
During an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan shared his perspective on Sharaf's future.
Joe Rogan and Sean Sharaf Discuss Potential Retirement Post-UFC 331 Victory
On a recent episode of the podcast, Rogan addressed Sharaf's thoughts on retiring after his significant UFC 331 win.
"If you're considering retiring, definitely take some time to reflect, as the decision is entirely yours," Rogan told Sharaf. "It depends completely on who you are and where you stand."
"There's absolutely nothing wrong with stepping away now if that's what you wish," Rogan continued. "You need to consider it. A moment that significant requires time to process before making any decisions."
Prior to joining the UFC in 2024, Sharaf won his initial three professional fights by first-round knockout. Despite his notable achievement at UFC 331, Sharaf appears open to concluding his MMA career, a sentiment Rogan seems to support.
