Following an error-filled start to the Premier League season, Sanchez made his debut for Como against Parma last weekend. Manager Cesc Fabregas, when asked about the Chelsea arrival, shared his satisfaction with the added depth in the goalkeeper position.
Fabregas told the press, via Calciomercato: "Robert Sanchez comes from a major team, he's won titles and operates under constant pressure. At his previous club, victory was the constant expectation. Since joining us, it's been ideal; we hadn't anticipated this opportunity at the outset. For me, that's what matters."
He further highlighted the Spaniard's significance, acknowledging the inherent difficulty of the goalkeeper role.
"Whether Butez or Sanchez plays may depend on fatigue or the match's demands. They face intense action countless times daily; it's demanding with so many games. I believe this flexibility is crucial. It's a new approach, as Butez hasn't missed a game in eighteen months. If we aim for this dynamic in certain matches, it will be based on intuition. It won't happen every time, but it will happen."
Currently, Fabregas appears content rotating between Jean Butez and Sanchez. The Chelsea loanee had the opportunity against Parma, while the Frenchman had started against Leipzig in the Champions League.
This rotation should ensure both players receive adequate game time, benefiting Sanchez. He is now playing in a stable environment where his ball-playing skills can potentially re-emerge.
