Michael Chandler Predicts Mauricio Ruffy Will Finish Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 331
Michael Chandler, a former opponent of Mauricio Ruffy, foresees a decisive victory for Ruffy against Arman Tsarukyan in the UFC 331 co-main event.
The upcoming UFC 331 event on Saturday in Los Angeles features a key lightweight matchup between Arman Tsarukyan and Mauricio Ruffy. Tsarukyan, currently the top contender in the lightweight division, aims to solidify his claim for a title shot against the rapidly rising Ruffy.
The flyweight title rematch between Joshua Van and Alexandre Pantoja will headline UFC 331.
The winner of the Tsarukyan-Ruffy bout is widely expected to challenge the reigning lightweight champion, Justin Gaethje, following UFC 331. Ruffy, having secured recent wins over notable fighters like Rafael Fiziev and Michael Chandler, is recognized as one of the division's most dangerous strikers.
Many anticipate Tsarukyan will opt to take the fight to the ground, seeking to neutralize Ruffy's striking prowess. However, a former rival of Ruffy suggests the UFC 331 bout is ripe for an upset.
Chandler's Take on Ruffy vs. Tsarukyan
During a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, lightweight contender Michael Chandler shared his perspective on the upcoming fight.
“Arman is a capable fighter who stays active and puts himself in positions to succeed,” Chandler stated. “He has a solid strategy for defeating Mauricio Ruffy. The question is whether he can execute it. I believe Ruffy will land some significant strikes on him.”
Chandler elaborated, “Arman will undoubtedly attempt takedowns, as he’s unlikely to engage Ruffy in a stand-up battle. He’ll apply pressure, but I couldn’t manage that myself. I think Ruffy has momentum on his side, and Arman might be experiencing some ring rust.”
“Mauricio Ruffy is a skilled fighter, and I believe he’s underestimated by many,” Chandler concluded. “Therefore, I’m picking Ruffy to win this fight.”
