Conviction in Attempted Assassination of Former UFC Fighter Suman Mokhtarian
Earlier this week, two individuals were convicted following a failed assassination attempt on former UFC fighter Suman Mokhtarian in February 2024. While the attempt was unsuccessful, Mokhtarian was tragically shot and killed in Riverstone, New South Wales, in 2025. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with his murder.
Reports indicate that the Parramatta District Court found Noah Touma and Usman Chami guilty of their involvement in the plot against Mokhtarian. The suspects were initially arrested and charged with attempted murder but were later released on bail due to insufficient evidence. Despite pleading not guilty to the charges, a jury of twelve ultimately determined their culpability in planning the murder of the late UFC fighter.
At present, there are no established links between the convicted men and the fatal 2025 shooting that claimed Mokhtarian's life.
Suman Mokhtarian concluded his professional mixed martial arts career with a record of 8-2. He departed the UFC in 2019 after sustaining two consecutive losses and participating in an exhibition bout on The Ultimate Fighter Season 27.
Both Suman and his brother, Ashkan Mokhtarian, who also competed in the UFC, were reportedly associated with the Alameddine crime network, a known organized crime group operating in Australia.
