Atalanta targets Como's Assane Diao, but deal faces complexity
Atalanta, a Serie A team, has not yet secured a significant attacking reinforcement this summer and has now set its sights on Como's Assane Diao.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the talented player from Como has emerged as a potential target for the Bergamo club. It is uncertain whether Como will agree to his departure, but Atalanta is expected to make an approach soon.
Tuttomercatoweb reports that Atalanta is preparing to submit an offer for Diao, even though he is not officially on the market. Sporting director Cristiano Guintoli is enthusiastic about the prospect and is actively working on structuring a deal for the forward.
However, the transfer is anticipated to be quite intricate, primarily due to the financial considerations involved.
Como's president, Mirwan Suwarso, has explicitly stated that the club has no immediate need to sell, having previously rejected a substantial offer from an English club for Diao. This stance is likely to persist, and if Como's valuation remains unchanged, Atalanta may encounter difficulties in acquiring the Senegalese international.
The 20-year-old's current contract with Como extends until 2029. Consequently, from a contractual standpoint, Como is not under any pressure to sell and is in a very advantageous negotiating position.
