During an interview on The Lex Fridman Podcast, Nurmagomedov shared how his late father, Abdulmanap, helped him maintain composure leading up to the most significant fight of his career.

"Since he couldn't travel due to visa issues, it was essential for me to understand his exact thoughts. I wasn't concerned with anyone else's opinions or the perspectives of the millions watching this fight," Nurmagomedov stated. "My sole focus was on what he thought and what he told me. However, we never had direct conversations like 'Father, what's your opinion on this?' My father understood precisely where to set boundaries, as he had experienced a similar situation with his own father still being present."

"My father truly kept me grounded, mentally. He presented me with a choice: I could either succumb to the pressure and falter, or I could overcome it all with integrity. He urged me to go in, secure the victory, and settle the matter definitively."

Nurmagomedov is expected to be in the corner of Islam Makhachev for his upcoming UFC welterweight title fight at UFC 330.
