Josh Hokit Responds to Glover Teixeira's Call for Alex Pereira Fight: 'Pure Violence'
Glover Teixeira, coach and longtime mentor to former UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira, has proposed a compelling matchup for his protégé’s next venture into the heavyweight division: a fight against Josh Hokit.
Pereira’s recent heavyweight debut at UFC Freedom 250 saw him fall to Ciryl Gane via second-round TKO, a result that initially led Pereira to contemplate retirement. However, his sights are now set on a return to the heavyweight division for another championship pursuit. Hokit, who secured a decisive win over Derrick Lewis on the same UFC Freedom 250 card, has emerged as a potential opponent.
Teixeira, speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, expressed his confidence in Pereira’s future, stating, "I know for sure he’s going to get that belt, so he’s going to stay at heavyweight." He then directly addressed the possibility of a fight with Hokit, saying, "Hokit is talking a lot of s—, let’s go over there and knock his a– out and get back to the top. And then get the rematch."
In a direct response via Twitter, Hokit weighed in on Teixeira’s proposition. He stated his preference for a title fight against Ciryl Gane or a high-profile bout against Alex Pereira for the BMF title. Hokit voiced his frustration with fighters who he believes employ stalling tactics rather than engaging in exciting fights, asserting, "Whoever I fight, the fans will get pure violence with a show."
