UFC CEO Dana White has moved quickly to book flyweight sensation Bilal Hasan for his octagon debut, just days after his impressive performance on Dana White's Contender Series (DWCS).

The UFC matchmaking team wasted no time in finding a fight for one of mixed martial arts' most exciting emerging talents. Hasan secured a UFC contract by knocking out Mridul Saikia in a mere 45 seconds on Tuesday night in Las Vegas, extending his professional record to 9-0 with eight stoppages.

Entering the Contender Series cage on Tuesday, Hasan was the biggest betting favorite in DWCS history, surpassing notable alumni like Bo Nickal, Jamahal Hill, and Sean O’Malley. The former Cage Fury FC flyweight champion is widely considered a generational talent in the 125-pound division.

Mere hours after signing his UFC contract, Hasan has been scheduled to make his promotional debut at UFC Shanghai against another undefeated flyweight.

It was announced on Thursday that Hasan will face Nilson Rojas, who also boasts an undefeated record of 9-0, at UFC Shanghai on August 29th.

Rojas is also making his UFC debut, having secured first-round stoppage wins in four of his last five outings. His most recent victory was a unanimous decision win over Gonzalo Hanampa at Inka 59.

The addition of both Hasan and Rojas is a significant boost to the revitalized UFC flyweight division. The current flyweight champion, Joshua Van, is slated to return later this year at UFC 331 for a highly anticipated rematch against Alexandre Pantoja.

Bilal Hasan is among the select few Indonesian-born fighters to compete in the UFC, having made his professional debut in December 2022. Jeka Saragih previously made history as the first Indonesian UFC fighter in February 2023.

The headline bout for UFC Shanghai will be a bantamweight clash between former title challenger Umar Nurmagomedov and Song Yadong. In the co-main event, former strawweight title challenger Yan Xiaonan will face Denise Gomes.
