Margaret Qualley Debuts Chanel's Barefoot Sandals on the Red Carpet

Just four months after designer Matthieu Blazy unveiled his resort 2027 collection for Chanel in Biarritz, France, an unconventional footwear choice from the show has landed on the red carpet. While the collection featured Chanel's signature tweeds and a host of celebrities, it was the "non-shoe" footwear that truly captured attention.

These unique "barefoot sandals" consist of a minimal leather heel cap that is laced onto the foot, leaving the soles and toes exposed. Despite their polarizing nature, the avant-garde design has now been spotted at a major movie premiere, donned by actress Margaret Qualley.

Qualley recently attended the premiere of her new Ridley Scott film, The Dog Stars, in London. She was seen in a classic, cap-sleeved little black dress designed by Blazy for Chanel, complete with delicate fringing. However, her choice of footwear was the real showstopper. Qualley walked the paparazzi-filled carpet in the Chanel barefoot sandals, with her feet exposed against the concrete. This daring choice brought the controversial design from the runway to a high-profile event.
