The highly anticipated sequel, Practical Magic 2, is set to be a major cinematic event this September.
The follow-up to the beloved 1998 film, which starred Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock as the magical Owens sisters, will hit theaters on September 11. This time, the cast is expanded to include newcomers Joey King and Maisie Williams, who will portray Bullock's daughters. Williams shared with Vogue her initial apprehension, stating, "The first movie is such an iconic cult movie—I felt a little overwhelmed to be stepping into such a well-established and highly anticipated sequel." However, she added, "But it has been nothing but a joyful and welcoming experience from all the cast. I feel really excited for the world to see what we’ve made."
All four stars have been making a significant fashion impact on the red carpets during this month's press tour. (Notably, Kidman and Bullock were recently seen in Chanel and Givenchy, respectively.) For her part, Maisie Williams' fashion choices for the tour have a particularly fascinating origin story: she has chosen Sandra Bullock as her primary muse and style archive, drawing direct inspiration from her co-star's past looks.
"Both Sandra and Nicole were on our mood boards, in terms of both fashion and beauty," Williams revealed. Working with stylist Dino Bonačić, she explained her concept: "I really loved the idea of raiding through a mum’s closet, and pulling directly from the 1990s—a time that was so eclectic and chaotic when it comes to fashion, with individuality at the core."
Williams launched her tribute in London yesterday, wearing a custom red Ellie Misner top and skirt for the premiere. This ensemble was directly inspired by a two-piece outfit Bullock wore to the 1999 premiere of Forces of Nature. Williams completed her modern reinterpretation of the look with Bvlgari jewelry, Christian Louboutin shoes, and a Roger Vivier bag. "Wearing a mismatched two-piece for the premiere felt super exciting, and definitely reminiscent of what the late 1990s stood for," Williams commented. "While researching the era, my stylist Dino and I pulled a few different key Sandra looks, and this one stood out for its uniqueness and modernity. The look didn’t really need changes to make it feel modern, but we wanted to take it to a more glamorous, major red carpet level."
