A New Chapter for Sézane: Introducing the Autumn Collection's Evolved Vision

August 24, 2026Carlos Mendoza3 мин

Sézane's journey began not as a calculated brand launch, but as an organic evolution. Founder Morgane Sézalory initially curated a vintage clothing store on eBay called Les Composantes. This passion for pre-loved pieces soon inspired her to start designing her own clothing, laying the foundation for Sézane's distinctive aesthetic.

Sézalory reflects on her early days, stating, "I simply wanted to find a way to work and create a job that made sense for me." She admits that a greater understanding of business strategy might have deterred her, describing her approach as "very instinctive and organic, without a strategy."

Despite the unintentional beginnings, Sézalory has cultivated a successful global brand. After 13 years, she has guided Sézane into a "new direction," driven by personal reflection and a desire for the brand to align more closely with her current self. As she explained in an interview, the brand's rapid growth meant she hadn't yet had the opportunity to shape it into her "dream brand." This realization prompted her to pause and consider whether the brand would still captivate her even if she weren't its founder.

This pivotal shift is most evident in Sézane's updated visual identity, featuring a new logo and campaign imagery. The inaugural autumn collection of this new era is unveiled through a campaign starring Imaan Hammam, styled by Alex Carl and photographed by Mark Kean.

Sézalory emphasizes that Sézane has always been an intimate reflection of her personal taste and style. This ethos remains central, with the founder aiming to "make it more of who I am today." Regarding the clothing itself, Sézalory reiterates her enduring commitment to designing pieces for everyday life. While maintaining these essentials, she is also focused on creating garments that evoke more "emotions, strength, and confidence."

A First Look At Sézane’s “New Era” Autumn Collection

It's well known that Sézane's founder, Morgane Sézalory, never set out to create a "brand" – in the traditional sense, anyway. The business grew organically: Sézalory's first project was Les Composantes, a curated eBay store specializing in vintage, which eventually evolved into designing clothing inspired by her favorite pre-loved pieces. From there, Sézane's now-recognizable visual identity was born.

"I just wanted to find a way to work and create a job that made sense for me," she tells Vogue. "I think if I’d had more awareness and more maturity, I would have thought that it was impossible. It was very instinctive and organic, without a strategy."

Whether intended or not, Sézalory has now built a profitable global brand, which she has recently pivoted in a "new direction," having watched it evolve over 13 years. For several (mainly personal) reasons – the details of which she outlined in an article for Vogue Business – Sézalory spent a period of reflection to decide how she wanted Sézane to continue.

"I didn’t have time to make it the brand of my dreams – because I never thought I would create a brand – then it just happened," she explains. "It made me slow down a bit… and ask, ‘would this brand make me excited if I wasn’t [the founder]?’"

This shift focuses primarily on visuals, with a new logo and campaign imagery. The shoot showcases the inaugural autumn collection of the new era, featuring Imaan Hammam, styled by Alex Carl and shot by Mark Kean.

For Sézalory, Sézane has always been introspective, informed by her personal taste and dress sense. This sentiment still stands: "I wanted to make it more of who I am today." As for how this translates into the clothes? With a sustained "love" of dressing people for their "everyday lives," Sézalory promises to hold on to the essentials, while also striving to create pieces with more "emotions, strength and confidence."
