How Muay Thai Star Anna "Supergirl" Jaroonsak Seamlessly Balances Combat Sports and High Fashion
Anna "Supergirl" Jaroonsak, a prominent figure in the ONE Championship circuit, was no stranger to performing under pressure even before she caught the eye of the fashion industry. Having made her professional Muay Thai debut at just 16, amassed 40 victories, and successfully established her own gym, transitioning to a fashion photoshoot proved to be a surprisingly smooth adjustment for her.
At 22, Jaroonsak masterfully weaves together two seemingly disparate lives: one defined by intense combat, and the other by the camera's lens. High-fashion shoots, avant-garde styling, and international modeling assignments have become an integral part of her identity, a path she naturally gravitated towards rather than intentionally pursued.
"I'm not fully committed to modeling yet," she explained. "I take on opportunities as they arise, primarily for a change of pace. My main priority currently is managing our new gym."
The initial struggles often faced by novice models—self-consciousness and stiffness—never materialized for Jaroonsak. Her extensive background in interviews, sports photography, and high-stakes performances in front of sold-out arenas had already equipped her with the necessary poise and confidence.
"I found adapting to the fashion world remarkably easy," she shared. "I feel completely at ease with it and it's been a lot of fun. Since I've been fighting since childhood, I'm accustomed to interviews and sports-related shoots. Nothing truly fazes me."
Among her various modeling endeavors, the PUMA x ARIES collaboration in London holds a special place. This particular shoot encapsulated everything she cherishes about being on set: a vibrant creative atmosphere, supportive photographers, and the liberty to explore something entirely distinct from her everyday gym routine.
However, the physical demands of a prolonged day on a photoshoot set are incomparable to the rigors of a fight training camp.
"In terms of endurance, shooting is considerably less taxing than fighting," she noted. "A 4-to-6-hour photoshoot feels like a breeze compared to boxing training. Training is far more demanding."
"Every experience I undertake is a chance to learn. Having dedicated my entire life to the boxing ring, it's enjoyable to try something different. It adds vibrancy and variety to my life."
This coming Friday, "Supergirl" is set to return to the ring at ONE Fight Night 41: Sinsamut vs. Jarvis, broadcast live on Prime Video from Bangkok’s iconic Lumpinee Stadium. She will compete in an atomweight Muay Thai bout against Yu Yau Pui from Hong Kong.
