According to reports from TUTTOmercatoWEB, Leeds United have renewed their interest in Parma's goalkeeper, Zion Suzuki. The West Yorkshire club is actively seeking a new shot-stopper following the departure of Illan Meslier, who left on a free transfer at the end of the previous season and is rumored to be joining Arsenal. Although an initial bid for the Japanese international was unsuccessful, Leeds United are now preparing to make a fresh attempt to sign him.

Zion Suzuki has earned considerable praise for his performances for Parma over the last two seasons and recently represented Japan in the World Cup, where the Samurai Blue were eliminated in the Round of 32 by Brazil.

Transfermarkt values the 23-year-old goalkeeper at €20 million. He has three years remaining on his contract with Parma, which reportedly pays him €930,000 per year. Parma has so far been hesitant to consider offers for Suzuki, but Leeds United is expected to persist with their pursuit. Suzuki has also been linked with other prominent clubs, including Juventus and fellow Premier League teams Everton, Tottenham, and Aston Villa.

Suzuki's Ascending Career

Suzuki's recent performances at the World Cup have significantly boosted his profile, but he has been attracting attention for his mature displays for Parma for some time. It appears inevitable that he will move to a new club soon, and Leeds United could present a suitable destination. He could potentially secure the first-choice goalkeeper position at Elland Road immediately. Even if the team were to be relegated, goalkeepers often emerge from such campaigns with credit, as facing a higher volume of shots can lead to more standout saves and opportunities to impress.
