BKB and BKFC Prepare for a Fierce Face-Off on August 29th
The bare-knuckle boxing world is set for a significant showdown as two major promotions, BKB and BKFC, are scheduled to host their respective fight cards on the same day, August 29th. This competition for dominance highlights the growing popularity of gloveless combat.
BKB, previously known as BYB Extreme, has a history rooted in the modern bare-knuckle era, predating BKFC's inception. While BKB has successfully leveraged traditional broadcasting channels, securing deals with networks like Vice TV and Telemundo Deportes Ahora, they have also innovated in social media. Their groundbreaking work on TikTok, particularly the BKB 55 event headlined by Lee Selby, reportedly achieved the highest watch time for any combat sport on the platform, even surpassing claims made by Jake Paul's Most Valuable Promotions.
While BKFC boasts prominent names such as Darren Till and Mike Perry, BKB appears to be focusing on building a sustainable, long-term structure for the sport. This strategic approach may position them for sustained growth and influence in the bare-knuckle boxing landscape.
August 29th Fight Cards: A Deep Dive
BKB is set to hold its BKB 58 event in Miami, headlined by a highly anticipated heavyweight title defense. Champion Gustavo Trujillo will face off against challenger Mark O’Neill in what is expected to be a thrilling encounter.
The card also features the bare-knuckle debut of Olympic gold medalist Yuriorkis Gamboa, who will compete against Yesner Talavera. Additionally, Aspen Ladd, following a successful debut in BKFC, will make her BKB debut against former welterweight title challenger Bianca Daimoni.
Meanwhile, BKFC will host BKFC 92 at the iconic Fenway Park in Boston. The main event will be a featherweight title fight between champion Kai Stewart and former BKB champion Harry Gigliotti. The event will also showcase the return of pound-for-pound top female fighter Christine Ferea, who will face Sofia Landi, and the bare-knuckle debut of former UFC fighter Joe Lauzon.
With two compelling fight cards scheduled for August 29th, bare-knuckle boxing fans are in for a night packed with exciting action and high-stakes matchups.
