Mike Perry Discloses Nate Diaz Fight Will Be His Biggest Career Payday
Most Valuable Promotions recently announced a highly anticipated matchup: Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship's 'King of Violence' Mike Perry is set to face off against UFC legend Nate Diaz, known for creating the 'Baddest Motherf**ker' belt. This bout will be featured on the Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano fight card.
Though the announcement was made just days ago, the promotion has reportedly been working for months to finalize this high-profile clash.
During an appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, Perry revealed the extensive background work. "It's been in the works for a little while now," he stated. "Maybe you saw little teasers of me on social media training, doing MMA moves and things like that. They've been talking about it. Names moved around. I think once the White House card got announced, I think things came together... People are really looking forward to this fight, some saying this is the people's main event."
Perry expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming challenge: "It's going to be an exciting fight for sure. I'm training my ass off. I have this excitement inside of me to be my best for this fight, so I'm looking forward to showing that to the fans."
This event marks a significant milestone for Perry, as he will compete on the first mixed martial arts card to stream on Netflix, guaranteeing an audience size far exceeding any previous fight in his career. Crucially, he is also set to receive the largest payday of his nearly 22-year combat sports journey.
When directly asked if this fight would be his best career payday, Perry unequivocally confirmed, "Yeah, for sure."
He elaborated on his mindset: "The next one is always the best one. This is the next one. I've been saying that. It's locked in. I've been saying that for 20 years, I swear." Perry also acknowledged his opponent, adding, "I appreciate Nate for helping me get this matchup, and we're going to clash, you know, and that's really cool for all the hard work in my career."
With the bout agreements now signed, Perry can rest assured that the fight is officially on, confident in Nate Diaz's reputation for always showing up.
Perry reinforced this certainty: "You know, Nate Diaz and the Diaz crew, they don't pull out of fights. So, this is a sure thing because I don't either. So, we're pulling up May 16, man. MMA fight. I'm looking to be extremely damaging," Perry affirmed, highlighting his intent for the May 16th bout.
