In a monumental achievement at GLORY 107 on Saturday, April 25th, held at the RTM Stage in Rotterdam, Chico Kwasi etched his name in GLORY history. Kwasi (46-6-2, 23 KO) became only the second fighter ever to simultaneously hold GLORY world titles in two different weight classes.
The welterweight champion moved up to challenge for the middleweight title and emerged victorious against Donovan Wisse (23-2, 10 KO) in an incredibly close fight that was ultimately decided in the final round. At 28 years old, Kwasi now joins the elite ranks of Alex Pereira as the only fighters to achieve double championship status in GLORY history.
In the co-main event, Tariq ‘Cookie’ Osaro (31-5-1, 17 KO) returned to the win column with a decisive victory over his rival Nico ‘Big Sexy’ Horta (26-12, 4 KO). Osaro secured the win with a powerful uppercut that sent Horta to the canvas in the first round.
The light heavyweight “proving grounds” featured several exciting matchups, with Cem Caceres (20-3, 14 KO), Mo Touchassie (20-3, 14 KO), Stefan Latescu (20-6, 10 KO), Mohammed Hamdi (22-4, 10 KO), Luis Tavares (65-11, 21 KO), and Albert Ugrincic (12-4, 5 KO) all securing victories. These wins position them as strong contenders for a spot in the upcoming COLLISION 9 eight-man grand prix on June 13th, competing for the vacant GLORY light heavyweight world championship.
On the main card, Nabil Khachab (31-7-1, 4 KO) earned a hard-fought split decision win against veteran Errol Koning (47-18, 15 KO). Additionally, Mohammed Boutasaa (20-3, 4 KO) made a strong promotional debut, defeating Cedric Do (50-8-1, 30 KO) by unanimous decision.
The GLORY 107 superfight series also delivered exciting moments. Top Serbian heavyweight Rade Opacic (24-8, 17 KO) rebounded with a unanimous decision victory over Colin George (24-15, 22 KO). Deniz Demirkapu (17-5, 11 KO) continued his streak of entertaining performances with a stoppage win against Mohamed Hamami (17-5, 8 KO). Italian prospect Michael Samperi (37-3, 19 KO) made an immediate impact in his GLORY debut, delivering a knockout that is a strong contender for KO of the year.
