Preview UFC Saudi Arabia: Michael ‘Venom’ Page Hands Sharabutdin Magomedov His First Loss

At UFC Saudi Arabia, British fighter Michael `Venom` Page secured a unanimous decision victory over Sharabutdin Magomedov, marking Magomedov`s first defeat in his mixed martial arts career.

The bout was competitive, but the judges scored it 30-27, 30-27, and 29-28 in favor of Page (whose record is now 23-3), improving his UFC record to 2 wins and 1 loss.

Despite the win, Page expressed a desire for more activity, stating to UFC.com that he felt he could have thrown more strikes. He commented, “I wanted to do more. My shot count, my punch count, my kick count could have been higher.”

He added that he was “a bit hesitant” during the fight and needed to “go back to the lab” to address this aspect of his performance.

Looking ahead, Page believes he could contend for a title shot later this year.

He acknowledged the uncertainty, saying, “I have to wait and see what I`m given, in terms of my next opponent, in terms of the ranking.”

He hopes to get “a couple of fights and then a title,” noting that the welterweight division is constantly changing. Page concluded, “Welterweight division is moving and shifting all the time. I could be one fight away, I could be two fights away, It could be three fights. I just want to do as many fights this year, so I can edge closer to that title fight.”
