Preview Shakan Pitters and Brad Rea Make Weight Ahead of EBU Showdown

Shakan Pitters and Brad Rea both conveyed strong confidence after successfully making the required weight for their European light-heavyweight title fight. The bout is scheduled to take place tomorrow evening in Hull. The event was initially slated for Galway but was moved to Hull for reasons that have not been publicly clarified.

This change in location resulted in several fighters being affected. Kieran Molloy was left without an opponent and subsequently without a promoter. Joe Ward`s planned fight against Lerrone Richards was also cancelled. Adding to the list of changes, heavyweight prospect Hughie Fury withdrew from his scheduled bout last week due to a hand injury. Consequently, the card now features four fights and will be broadcast live on DAZN starting at 7 pm. The main event is widely expected to finally settle the outcome for the EBU 175-pound title, a situation that has seen previous disruptions.

Offering his thoughts ahead of the fight, Pitters stated, “I am ready to achieve the win by any necessary means. I`ve subjected my body to rigorous training in camp, and we are fully prepared to secure this championship belt.”

He further commented, “All the preparation, all the training, and all the hard work I`ve invested at the gym have culminated in this moment. I had a period away from the ring and used that time effectively to improve various facets of my boxing. On Saturday night, everyone watching will undoubtedly see a refined and high-level performance from me.”

In response, Brad Rea shared his perspective: “I have no intention of needing twelve rounds – that`s simply too extended for this fight! He is a capable fighter and has competed at a good standard, but I am completely aware of my own potential. While he may think I`m skilled, he doesn`t truly understand the depth of my abilities.”

Rea added, “There is mutual respect between us; there are no hard feelings. He appears to be a good individual, he trains diligently, and we share similar career goals. However, when the opportunity arises for that belt on Saturday night, I can easily shift gears. I am absolutely confident that I will stop him before the distance.”

Fighting on the undercard, Belfast`s Sean McComb is hoping for improved fortunes under his new promoter, GBM. McComb wasted no time in publicly challenging several notable fighters in his division.

McComb openly declared, “Anyone who is looking for a challenge can step up. I am calling out Dalton Smith, Pierce O’Leary, and Adam Azim; they are all opponents I want to face. With the strong support I now have from GBM and Izzy Asif, we plan to stay highly active, possibly aiming for three fights before the end of the year. I am actively seeking significant fights against prominent names, focusing on opponents who can help me progress in my boxing career.”
