Emanuel Navarrete (39-2-1, 32 KO) and Charly Suarez (18-0, 10 KO) successfully weighed in, hitting the mark for the featherweight limit ahead of their bout in San Diego. This highly anticipated fight has the WBO world championship title on the line.
For Navarrete, the Mexican champion who last fought in December, this event represents his fourth defense of the World Boxing Organization belt. In contrast, his opponent, the Filipino contender Suarez, will be challenging for a major world championship title for the very first time in his professional boxing career.
The fight card also features another significant clash: an interim IBF world lightweight title fight between undefeated Raymond Muratalla (22-0, 17 KO) and Zaur Abdullaev (20-1, 12 KO). The winner of this co-main event will earn the right to face the undisputed IBF champion in the lightweight division, Vasiliy Lomachenko. Negotiations for that potential mandatory title fight are expected to be agreed upon no later than October.
