Real American Freestyle (RAF) has announced its RAF09 event, set to take place on May 30th at the College Park Center in Arlington, Texas. This event marks RAF’s first venture into the Texas market, bringing professional freestyle wrestling to the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
The main event will feature Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson making his highly anticipated RAF heavyweight debut against Alexandr Romanov. Romanov, known as “King Kong” from his MMA career, also boasts prior freestyle wrestling experience, including participation in Senior World and European championships.
In the co-main event, former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman will make his RAF debut, facing off against Colby Covington. Weidman brings a strong wrestling pedigree to the league, having been a two-time NCAA Division I All-American. Covington returns to RAF following a victory at RAF07 and aims to maintain his undefeated record within the promotion. This matchup highlights two elite competitors returning to their wrestling roots.
