Paddy Pimblett has significantly increased his weight following the most important victory of his career, causing him to quickly move up through the weight categories.
Paddy ‘The Baddy’ is notorious for gaining a substantial amount of weight between fights, particularly when he spends time in the United States. True to his pattern, after his impressive stoppage win against former Bellator champion Michael Chandler at UFC 314, he weighed in over 40 pounds heavier than his official weigh-in weight.
Despite being a naturally larger lightweight, Pimblett has consistently managed to meet the 156 lb limit throughout his career. However, he rapidly rehydrates and gains weight post-fight, pushing him into a new weight division territory. He is now reportedly sitting around the light heavyweight mark, considerably above his fighting weight.
Paddy Pimblett Gains 43 lbs, Reaching Light Heavyweight After Dramatic Transformation
Even before his fight with Michael Chandler, Paddy Pimblett began regaining weight the night before the UFC 314 co-main event. Having just cut 14 pounds in a matter of hours to reach 156 lbs, he rehydrated by consuming ice cream, pancakes, and other various treats.
Once he successfully secured the win in spectacular fashion, all dietary restrictions were off. The British fighter quickly celebrated at a yacht party in Miami before returning home for his children`s first birthday celebration, and then flying to Dubai for a luxurious holiday with his wife, Laura.
In a video shared on YouTube documenting his post-fight weight gain, he showed himself indulging in various foods before stepping onto the scales. He recorded a weight just under 91 kg, but stated it was approximately 90 kg (around 198 lbs) since he was fully clothed.
To provide context, this weight places him well above the middleweight limit, which is two divisions higher than where he competes. It also puts him just two pounds below the championship weight that Israel Adesanya made when he challenged Jan Blachowicz for the light heavyweight title in March 2021.
Fans Astonished by Paddy Pimblett`s Post-UFC 314 Weight Gain
Pimblett`s significant weight gain has been a subject of discussion among commentators and fans for years since he gained global recognition in the UFC. In the past, he has even exceeded 205 lbs, briefly putting him in heavyweight territory, although this hasn`t happened recently.
Comparisons are often drawn to the legendary boxing champion Ricky Hatton, who was humorously nicknamed “Ricky Fatton” during his prime due to his similar weight fluctuations. Reacting to Pimblett`s latest weight, one fan commented on X (formerly Twitter): “Reminds me of Ricky Hatton and eventually it takes its toll.”
Other fans suggested that he might find alternative career paths related to food. One wrote: “Paddy has a future outside of fighting maybe a food show.” Another recommended: “He should start a cooking show like Volk because he actually enjoys food and it doesn’t affect him come fight day.”
