Scotland`s Nico Carrillo is set to challenge Nabil Anane for the interim ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai world title. The fight was originally scheduled between Carrillo and pound-for-pound striking elite Superlek Kiatmoo9.
However, a knee injury has forced Superlek to withdraw, leading to Thai-Algerian Nabil Anane stepping in. The interim title bout will take place on January 24 at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand, as part of the ONE 170 event.
The winner of this clash will earn the right to face Superlek in a title unification fight at ONE 172 in Japan later in March.
Carrillo boasts an impressive undefeated record within ONE Championship, securing all his victories by knockout. As the division`s top contender, he has expressed strong confidence.
Carrillo previously stated, “Everything I`ve said, I`ve done it. I put my neck out on the line because I come out with these bold statements on what I`m going to do but I`ve not been wrong yet.” He added, “I have this burning belief in myself. I just prove myself right every time.”
His perfect record in ONE, marked by four knockout finishes, supports this confidence. He noted, “I know what the fans want to see in ONE and it`s violence, so I switched my style for that.”
