Preview Napoli’s Sam Beukema Aspires to Netherlands World Cup Spot: ‘A Dream Come True’

Sam Beukema, the central defender for Serie A club Napoli, recently spoke about the possibility of being called up to the Netherlands squad for the upcoming World Cup.

During an interview, Beukema articulated the profound personal significance of potentially representing the Netherlands at this year’s World Cup. The 27-year-old stated, “Absolutely. Representing the Netherlands is a long-held dream, and participating in the World Cup would be truly extraordinary.”

He added, “Currently, my entire focus is on concluding the season successfully with Napoli. These remaining fixtures are vitally important.” Beukema reaffirmed his commitment to Napoli’s Serie A efforts, as the team is presently just one point behind second-placed Milan and five points ahead of Como, who lead the chasing group in the league standings.

In the World Cup’s Group F, the Netherlands are slated to face Japan, Tunisia, and the victor of UEFA Playoff Path B, a path that includes Ukraine, Sweden, Poland, and Albania.

This season, Beukema has made 23 defensive appearances for Napoli across all competitions, netting two goals in the league. His contributions have been instrumental in revitalizing the club’s title defense, which had appeared to be in jeopardy for much of the campaign.
