Trainer Jamie Moore is keeping his focus firmly on the present moment, celebrating Dave Allen`s impactful victory over Johnny Fisher at the Copper Box Arena.
The heavyweight contest concluded in the fifth round. Allen showcased surprising power, knocking down `The Romford Bull` with heavy blows. A subsequent series of body shots and a well-placed left hook led to Fisher`s corner signalling the end of the fight by throwing in the towel.
This 24th career win has breathed new life into the 33-year-old Allen, who is now looking to headline a show in his hometown of Sheffield. Promoter Eddie Hearn has indicated support for the popular fighter (24-7-2, 19 KOs) securing a top-of-the-bill slot. Speaking after the fight, Moore told Boxing News, “Honestly, I`m not even thinking about what`s next right now. If I start focusing on the future, I`ll miss out on truly enjoying this moment, and that`s what matters to me.”
British heavyweight champion David Adeleye was present ringside, and Allen might set his sights on a potential opportunity against the winner of a likely rematch between Adeleye and Jeamie Tshikeva, although that fight is yet to be officially confirmed. Reflecting on the five years he has worked with Allen, Moore praised the win as a highlight and a genuinely positive moment in 2025.
He described their journey together: “It`s been a gradual process, sometimes inconsistent. There were a couple of times when he mentioned stopping fighting, and I`d simply say, `Okay, no worries. But if you ever need my support, whether it`s related to boxing or not, I`m always here and available.` We`ve developed a strong connection.”
Moore added, “I feel that recently, particularly over the past six to nine months, he`s really begun to place his trust in me. Earning Dave Allen`s trust is incredibly difficult; it`s akin to trying to get someone to walk on Mars. It`s a monumental task, especially given previous experiences [referring to the controversial decision in Saudi]. I outlined to him what I believed would happen if he followed a certain approach, and it played out exactly as predicted. He`s even commented in interviews, `I don`t easily trust people, but if Jamie advises me to do something, I trust him completely.` For me, that`s potentially the highest compliment I could ever receive, knowing how significant it is for Dave to express that about someone.”
The first encounter between Allen and Fisher took place five months prior on the Usyk-Fury 2 undercard in Riyadh. That was a tough 10-round fight where Allen scored a knockdown in the fifth round but ultimately lost a contested decision that many observers felt he should have won. Asked what made the difference in the rematch, Moore highlighted one key factor: “Conditioning. That fifth round in Saudi served as a crucial realization for him. Even with a short training camp then, he witnessed the benefits of fully committing to his preparation. Since that point, he hasn`t looked back. For this rematch, he benefited from an 11-week camp. His physical condition and his self-belief were vastly improved, and you can clearly see the positive impact in the outcome.”
