UFC women`s flyweight contender Maycee Barber has issued her first statement following the dramatic events at UFC Vegas 107, specifically addressing comments made by Erin Blanchfield after the canceled main event.
The highly anticipated main event of UFC Vegas 107 on Saturday night was scheduled to feature top 5 flyweights Maycee Barber and Erin Blanchfield, concluding a tumultuous fight week. However, moments before they were due to enter the Octagon, a critical issue on Barber`s side led to the bout`s cancellation.
Following the final pre-fight presentation at the UFC Apex, the absence of Barber and Blanchfield from their walkouts caused significant confusion among viewers and attendees. The broadcast team struggled to ascertain the situation as uncertainty spread.
Reports confirmed that Barber experienced a medical problem in the locker room just as she was preparing to head to the cage for the fight against Blanchfield. The bout was immediately called off, resulting in UFC Vegas 107 concluding without its scheduled main event.
Maycee Barber Addresses Medical Issue and Responds to Erin Blanchfield After UFC Vegas 107 Withdrawal
This incident marked one of the strangest conclusions to a recent UFC card. Barber was reportedly transported to a hospital following a suspected seizure. In the meantime, Erin Blanchfield did not mince words in her reaction to the cancellation, remarking on the situation shortly after having speculated that Barber might withdraw.
Nearly a full day after the surprising turn of events at UFC Vegas 107, Barber used social media to provide an update on her condition and to address Blanchfield`s sharp criticism.
In her first public comments since the event, shared via Instagram, Barber stated:
“Not what I had planned for a Sunday post,” Barber wrote.
“Thank you to everyone for the prayers & support. I owe an apology to the UFC organization and Erin Blanchfield.”
She added, “PS my life is not messy this is just a bad hand. We will get to the bottom of it all and be back.”
Barber`s closing remark directly referenced Blanchfield`s accusation that Barber`s `entire life is a mess,` as Blanchfield also criticized her opponent`s behavior as `super unprofessional.` This withdrawal followed Barber missing weight by 1.5 pounds just hours earlier, the first time in her UFC career.
Following UFC Vegas 107, Blanchfield indicated she was not interested in an immediate rematch and suggested Barber should move up to the bantamweight division permanently. However, Barber`s recent statement suggests she does not currently plan to make significant changes to her fighting weight class.
UFC Vegas 107: A Bizarre Fight Week Culminates in Last-Minute Cancellation
Barber`s medical scare was just one of several unusual incidents during the UFC Vegas 107 fight week. Multiple fighters missed weight, including flyweight Allan Nascimento, though he still competed and defeated Jafel Filho.

Additionally, a scheduled welterweight bout between Andreas Gustafsson and Trevin Giles was canceled due to Giles reportedly suffering a head injury during his weight cut. Gustafsson is now scheduled to fight Khaos Williams at UFC 316.
The planned bout would have been Barber`s first competition since her victory over former title challenger Katlyn Cerminara at UFC 299.
