UFC Hall of Famer Khabib Nurmagomedov has offered his assistance to former Manchester United soccer star Patrice Evra as he prepares for his mixed martial arts debut in the PFL on May 23rd.
Following his announcement about trying MMA, Evra spoke with Nurmagomedov and clarified that his venture isn`t merely for attention. The 43-year-old ex-French international emphasized his commitment to training seriously for this new challenge.
“I need to train,” Evra stated during their conversation. “I must take it seriously. You understand the deep respect I hold for you and the sport, which is why a training session with you is essential. I want to learn from the best.”
Nurmagomedov, a long-time soccer enthusiast, pledged his support to Evra, especially now that both are based in Dubai while Evra trains for his first fight.
“As I`ve told you often, send me your location, and I`ll find you,” Nurmagomedov replied. “Send location, tell me where you are? When I see you, you have to be ready and that`s it. Other things, I`m going to take care of. I`m going to teach you how to smash people.”
Nurmagomedov is widely recognized as one of MMA`s top coaches, having trained numerous champions, including UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev and PFL lightweight champion Usman Nurmagomedov.
Since retiring from active competition, Nurmagomedov has dedicated significant time to coaching. He is known for his rigorous training methods and his focus on maximizing his fighters` potential. It appears he`s ready to mentor Evra whenever their schedules allow.
“My only goal is for you to improve,” Nurmagomedov remarked. “Nothing else matters. It`s great to see you, and I sincerely hope you`ll send me your location soon so we can train together.”
Evra is scheduled to make his PFL debut on May 23rd at the upcoming event in Paris, France, held at the Accor Arena.
