Thirty-three-year-old former NFL standout Johnny Manziel, widely known as “Johnny Football,” achieved a victory in his mixed martial arts debut on Saturday.
Manziel, a former college football quarterback who garnered significant acclaim before a tumultuous professional journey, triumphed over Bob Menery. The win came via first-round ground and pound at Brandrisk Promotions 14 on May 23rd.
Manziel rose to prominence as the first freshman to ever win the Heisman Trophy in 2012. His NFL career began when he was drafted 22nd overall by the Cleveland Browns in the 2014 NFL Draft.
However, his much-anticipated professional football career was brief, marked by on-field difficulties and off-field scandals, largely attributed to his partying lifestyle and insufficient preparation. He played only two seasons with the Browns before his release in early 2016.
