UFC commentator Joe Rogan has put forth an intriguing idea: a featherweight championship bout between Alexander Volkanovski and Movsar Evloev should ideally unfold at a unique location – the White House.
Movsar Evloev recently secured a significant victory against Lerone Murphy in the main event of UFC London at the O2 Arena. Despite the closely contested nature of the fight, Evloev’s performance was sufficient to earn him the judges’ nod, strongly positioning him for a shot at the UFC featherweight title in his upcoming fight.
Current champion Alexander Volkanovski has also indicated his readiness to defend his title against Evloev. Known for his consistent willingness to face formidable opponents, ‘The Great’ is receptive to this potential matchup.
Rogan believes that this exciting championship clash would serve as a major draw for a hypothetical “UFC White House” event, significantly enhancing its appeal.
Rogan’s Thoughts on the Potential Showdown
Speaking on his “Fight Companion” podcast, Rogan expressed considerable admiration for Evloev’s recent showing. “The Evloev thing was very impressive. The fact that he was able to stand with him was very impressive to me,” Rogan commented. He enthusiastically supported the idea of a Volkanovski vs. Evloev bout, stating, “I’m into (Volkanovski vs. Evloev). God, I hope so. I hope they don’t f*ck him again. After this? It has to be, or something is terrible in the world.”
Emphasizing his vision for the grand event, Rogan added, “White House lawn, let’s go. Give the man a couple of months off. We’re only in March, it’s in June. Come on, spice that card up, baby.” He also acknowledged the considerable pressure Evloev likely faces to finish fights with strikes and engage in stand-up exchanges: “The pressure he must be getting to try and finish fights in strikes, and strike with people must be nuts.”
The conversation now turns to whether Movsar Evloev will indeed be granted the opportunity to challenge for the UFC featherweight championship next.
