The November Riyadh Season boxing event is shaping up with exciting bouts, including a newly announced super flyweight unification fight.
Turki Alalshikh, a prominent figure in boxing, recently revealed on social media that Jesse Rodriguez and Fernando Martinez are slated for a championship clash.
While an exact date is yet to be confirmed, it is anticipated that this significant matchup will take place on a major card in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
This event is expected to feature other high-profile fights, including the previously announced likely main event: Brian Norman Jr defending his WBO world welterweight title against Devin Haney.
Alalshikh has also confirmed other world title fights for November, such as David Benavidez vs Anthony Yarde and Abdullah Mason vs Sam Noakes.
Interestingly, despite the announcement of this unification bout, it appears Rodriguez`s 23rd professional fight was already tentatively scheduled.
The WBC champion, Rodriguez, must first overcome a tough challenge against Phumelela Cafu, the WBO titleholder, on July 19.
Cafu, who recently claimed his title, is a formidable opponent, having caused a major upset by defeating Kosei Tanaka in Japan last October.
Nevertheless, for Jesse `Bam` Rodriguez, widely considered the top fighter in the 115lb division, the prospect of a unification fight adds extra incentive to perform well in his upcoming July bout.
On the other side, WBA champion Fernando Martinez (18-0, 9 KOs) is patiently awaiting this significant opportunity, coming off a second points victory over Kazuto Ioka in May.
Given their aggressive, action-packed styles, the potential fight between Rodriguez (21-0, 14 KOs) and Martinez is highly anticipated and promises to be a memorable battle.
