Preview Inspirational Fighter Jake Peacock Returns to ONE Championship Action

Jake Peacock, the limb-different fighter who serves as an inspiration to many, is scheduled to compete again on February 20. He will face Shinji Suzuki at the Lusail Sports Arena in Qatar as part of a ONE Championship event.

The bout between Suzuki and Peacock was originally planned for November but was postponed when the fight card was rescheduled. Their Muay Thai match will now take place on the same night as the highly anticipated Jonathan Haggerty vs. Wei Rui ONE bantamweight kickboxing world title fight.

Peacock was born without his right hand and forearm. Despite this, he is determined to establish himself as a world-class Muay Thai fighter, following an impressive debut performance in ONE Championship back in April.

Reflecting on his debut, Peacock said, “I promised it would be a spectacular performance and a debut worth watching, and it certainly was. I was very pleased with how I performed. I truly enjoyed myself, perhaps even a bit too much.”

He added, “I was savoring every single moment of it. I am competing at the highest level of the sport, and I just wanted to fully experience it all.”

“I aimed to cherish every minute, and I did.”

However, Peacock`s mindset for the upcoming fight against Suzuki is strictly business.

“Mark my words, this next fight is all about business. I`m going in there with the intention of finishing this opponent within two rounds. Afterward, I plan to take the microphone and call out a top-ranked fighter,” he stated.

Acknowledging his opponent, Peacock noted, “He has defeated some skilled competitors. His last opponent, Han Zi Hao, has faced many top fighters.”

“I respect him and his abilities. I respect anyone I step into the ring with. But I believe I operate on a different level than he does. I think this will be evident immediately in the fight.”

“I need to go in there, make a clear statement, silence anyone who has doubts, and move forward,” he emphasized.

Peacock`s ability to compete at a high level with one hand inherently sends a powerful message.

“I will continue doing what I do, proving people wrong, silencing the skeptics, and inspiring others,” he affirmed.

“I receive numerous messages constantly from individuals worldwide who are facing difficulties in their lives, or who also have a missing limb or are battling some challenge. They send encouraging words, telling me that I am giving them the strength to keep pushing on and that I am inspiring and motivating them.”
