UFC welterweight fighter Gilbert Burns openly discusses his lingering frustration with a specific loss on his fight record.
Burns is scheduled to headline UFC Vegas 106 this Saturday at the Apex. The seasoned fighter is looking to rebound after struggling to secure consecutive victories in recent years.
Following his notable performance where he nearly caused a major upset by dropping Kamaru Usman early in their 2021 title fight, Burns` record stands at 3 wins and 4 losses in the UFC.
Currently on a three-fight losing streak, the Brazilian veteran is experiencing the most challenging period of his professional mixed martial arts career in terms of results.
While acknowledging that every defeat is tough, Burns recently shared that one specific loss was particularly difficult for him to accept compared to others.

Gilbert Burns candidly assesses his performance against Sean Brady
During the UFC Vegas 106 media day on Wednesday, Burns discussed his upcoming fight and offered his perspective on his current standing within the welterweight division.
He reflected on the fights that have impacted his position in the title picture. Burns` latest defeat was against Sean Brady, and this particular setback generated the most significant frustration for him.
Sharing his thoughts, Burns stated, “Looking at these fights… the Belal [Muhammad] fight, I got injured in the first two minutes. It happened, it`s not his fault. He went in there and defeated me.” Regarding the Jack [Della Maddalena] fight, he commented, “In the Jack fight, I was doing many things correctly until I wasn`t. There`s no excuse. Saying `Oh, I was winning` doesn`t change that I didn`t secure the win.” He then specifically addressed the Brady fight: “But the last one [against Sean Brady] was the one where I felt like, `Man, I didn`t show up.` That performance bothered me the most. While all three losses are frustrating, that one stands out. I just need to make small adjustments.”
To end his three-fight losing streak, Gilbert Burns faces the challenge of defeating undefeated prospect Michael Morales
Saturday`s event in Las Vegas presents Burns with his next opportunity to return to winning ways, though securing a victory against his opponent will be a significant challenge.
The opponent standing in the way of the Brazilian securing his 16th UFC win is Michael Morales, an undefeated prospect from Ecuador who boasts a perfect professional record of 17-0, including five wins in the UFC.
The 25-year-old Ecuadorian is fresh off an impressive first-round knockout victory over veteran welterweight Neil Magny, who is also a common opponent for both Morales and Burns.
Gilbert Burns enters UFC Vegas 106 as a considerable underdog. Having previously delivered strong performances in similar underdog situations against Kamaru Usman and Khamzat Chimaev, the Brazilian aims to achieve the outright victory against Morales this time.
