Preview Garner Battles Bellotti For Super-featherweight Supremacy

European super-featherweight champion Ryan Garner is set to defend his title against British and Commonwealth titleholder Reece Bellotti on July 26.

This significant clash, taking place at the Bournemouth International Centre at 130 lbs, features two boxers performing at their peak. The victor will significantly advance their claim towards a potential world title opportunity.

The bout also continues the promotional rivalry between Queensberry (promoter Frank Warren) and Matchroom (Eddie Hearn), adding another layer of interest to the event.

Ryan `The Piranha` Garner boasts an undefeated record of 17-0 with 8 knockouts and holds the WBC`s #7 ranking in the division, headed by champion O’Shaquie Foster. Reece `Bomber` Bellotti, 20-5 (15 KOs), aged 34, doesn`t currently hold a world ranking but has been on a strong run since moving up from featherweight in April 2022. His six-fight winning streak began with capturing the Southern Area title against Dean Dodge and includes impressive wins over Aqib Fiaz and Liam Dillon, earning him the Commonwealth belt and the prestigious Lonsdale Belt.

Garner, whom Frank Warren has long predicted would be a future star, appears to have settled into his career following periods of inactivity linked to personal issues. The 27-year-old has overcome these hurdles and demonstrated excellent form in his recent three fights, securing notable victories against Liam Dillon, Archie Sharp, and Salvador Jimenez. His European title victory against Jimenez came via a clear points decision in his first headline appearance at the Bournemouth International Centre.

Promoter`s View

In a press release from Queensberry, promoter Frank Warren commented on the upcoming fight:

“This is the must-make fight at super-featherweight right now. It`s a genuine barnburner that promises significant action. For Ryan, this type of challenge is essential to propel him towards the world title level where we believe he belongs. Reece is a proven, popular fighter, and crucially, both athletes guarantee excitement for the audience.”
