Frazer Clarke is still keen on a fight with the popular heavyweight Johnny Fisher, even though he believes he is significantly more advanced than his domestic competitor.
The Olympic bronze medalist recently secured a brutal first-round knockout victory against Ebenezer Tetteh. This came several months after he was decisively stopped himself by Fabio Wardley.
Understandably, his crushing defeat by Wardley last October raised concerns for many, not just about his boxing career but, more significantly, his general well-being.
However, judging by his dominant display in April against Tetteh, it`s clear that Clarke (9-1-1, 7 KOs) is still a formidable fighter, at least within the domestic circuit.
Meanwhile, the date and opponent for Clarke`s next bout appear undecided, although the 33-year-old will certainly be paying close attention to the fights happening this Saturday.
Heavyweight puncher Johnny Fisher (13-0, 11 KOs), following his controversial split-decision win against Dave Allen last December, is now aiming for a definitive finish in their rematch.
They are set to face off at the Copper Box Arena in London, where ‘The Romford Bull’ hopes his enthusiastic fanbase will inspire a more refined performance.
That level of polish wasn`t evident in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, during their December clash, where Allen (23-7-2, 18 KOs) scored a knockdown in the fifth round and seemed to control the remainder of their captivating fight.
However, if Fisher emerges victorious this weekend, the more experienced Clarke will undoubtedly be eager for a potential clash between them.
“It’s an interesting potential fight, and depending on Johnny`s performance this Saturday, I believe he and I would make for a great matchup,” Clarke stated in an interview with Sky Sports.
“I have significant respect for Johnny and his family; they are genuinely nice people. But when it comes to a fight between us, we are fundamentally different levels – I am far more advanced than he is.”
Clarke has also mentioned his interest in fighting the winner of the upcoming British title rematch between David Adeleye and Jeamie TKV. While a date for that bout hasn`t been set, it indicates that he is keeping all possibilities open for his next fight.
