Promoter Frank Warren is interested in arranging Derek Chisora`s upcoming 50th professional bout, potentially against a fighter he has faced before.
Chisora, with a record of 36 wins (23 KOs) and 13 losses, fought his 49th pro fight in February, securing a 12-round points decision victory over Otto Wallin in Manchester. This win, which served as an IBF title eliminator, also secured the 41-year-old veteran the mandatory challenger spot for the IBF belt, currently held by Daniel Dubois.
Chisora now joins a list of mandatory contenders that includes Agit Kabayel (WBC) and Joseph Parker (WBO). Parker has already defeated Chisora twice, and Warren is considering the prospect of a third contest between the two.
Warren stated that they would attempt to make the fight if possible. He emphasized that the decision ultimately rests with Chisora, given his status as the IBF mandatory challenger. Warren described a potential Chisora vs. Parker matchup as “a bloody good fight.”
While Chisora is currently on a three-fight winning streak, Parker boasts twice that number of consecutive victories. The New Zealander impressively stopped late replacement opponent Martin Bakole in two rounds back in February, extending his win streak to six. Parker, whose record stands at 36-3 (24 KOs), was initially set to challenge Dubois for the IBF world title, but Dubois had to withdraw during fight week due to illness.
Parker`s career has seen significant improvement since he began working with trainer Andy Lee. Notable victories under Lee`s guidance for the former WBO champion include wins against Martin Bakole, Zhilei Zhang, and Deontay Wilder. The 33-year-old anticipates fighting again this summer as he awaits a world title opportunity against the victor of the undisputed championship fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois, scheduled for July 19th at Wembley Stadium.
