Recent tweets from Jon Jones have reignited discussion about a potential superfight against former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, who now holds the PFL SuperFight title.

This comes after Ngannou`s coach Eric Nicksick suggested Ngannou might consider a future UFC return. Ngannou previously vacated his UFC belt, feeling undervalued, and signed with PFL as a fighter and ambassador for PFL Africa. While Jones secured the UFC heavyweight title, Ngannou has been active competing in both professional boxing and the PFL cage, earning significant income.

On Friday, Jones tweeted his enthusiasm for a fight with Ngannou, stating it would motivate him more than a bout against interim champion Tom Aspinall. Ngannou quickly responded the following day.

In his tweet, Ngannou declared, “You take care of the UFC, I’ll take care of the PFL, and we’ll finally find out who’s the KING OF THE HEAVYWEIGHT.”

A fight between Jones and Ngannou was sought multiple times after Jones transitioned to the heavyweight division from light heavyweight. However, the bout never materialized. UFC CEO Dana White cited financial disagreements, claiming Jones demanded “Deontay Wilder money.”

White has since repeatedly indicated he is not interested in working with Ngannou again. Conversely, PFL founder Donn Davis has expressed a strong desire to make the fight happen, potentially through a co-promotion with the UFC.

According to the text, Jones recently defended his title against Stipe Miocic in November, shortly after Ngannou`s PFL debut where he defeated Renan Ferreira by first-round TKO.
