Popular heavyweight boxer Dave Allen is anticipating a packed schedule for the remainder of the year, with his sights set on potentially challenging for the British title.
The 33-year-old fighter has become a favourite among British boxing enthusiasts, and his stunning sixth-round knockout win against Johnny Fisher has further added to his compelling career narrative.
Looking ahead, Allen hopes to make a significant mark on his turbulent trajectory by targeting the winner of the anticipated rematch between David Adeleye and Jeamie TKV for a shot at the British title later this year.
His powerful victory over Johnny Fisher (13-1, 11 KOs) took place last Saturday. The `White Rhino` ended the fight decisively with a devastating left hook.
This victory came after a controversial first fight last December, where Allen (24-7, 2 KOs) knocked Fisher down but ultimately lost via a split decision.
After securing the win in their rematch, the Doncaster boxer has signed a two-fight promotional agreement with Eddie Hearn`s Matchroom Boxing, marking his return to the stable where he looks forward to a promising future.
Notably, Eddie Hearn has already suggested a potential main event slot for Allen, likely to be held in Sheffield, Yorkshire, this September.
Before the potential September date, however, Allen expressed his wish for another bout, possibly facing the American boxer Christopher Lovejoy, to happen soon.
Following these, a shot at the British title against the winner of the Adeleye-TKV rematch (which is yet to be formally announced) remains his primary goal for late this year.
Elaborating on his plans, Allen stated on DAZN’s Ariel and Ade show:
“The plan is to headline locally, in September, but I don’t want to wait until September.
There’s a fella called Chris Lovejoy who I was meant to box five years ago… He ain’t very good, but that don’t bother me.
If I’m going to keep busy [before September], I’d love to box him. Then, at the end of the year, if the British title is ready… I’d love to box the winner [of Adeleye-TKV 2].”
Although no official announcement has been made, Adeleye and TKV are widely expected to face each other again later this year, following their disputed first meeting last month.
