UFC President Dana White has expressed absolute certainty that heavyweight champion Jon Jones will step back into the octagon in 2025. Jones hasn`t competed since his knockout victory over Stipe Miocic to defend his title at UFC 309 last November.
Following that defense, Jon Jones has been engaged in discussions for a unification bout with interim champion Tom Aspinall. However, instead of finalizing the highly anticipated fight, Jones, known as `Bones,` recently started filming a reality television show in Thailand, where he`s been seen with internet personality Hasbulla.
Fans have frequently pointed out that Jones appears to be involved in everything *except* preparing for a fight against Tom Aspinall. Jones himself seemed to acknowledge this perception with a recent social media post.
Responding to these concerns about Jones` activities outside of fighting, the UFC CEO provided a definitive statement.
“He’s fighting. He will be fighting,” White told street journalist Adam Glyn on Friday. When asked if Jones would indeed return in 2025, White emphatically added, “Yes. Absolutely.”
Curtis Blaydes Calls for Jon Jones to be Stripped
Interim champion Tom Aspinall, who secured his title by knocking out Curtis Blaydes in just 60 seconds at UFC 304 last July, has been patiently waiting for his chance to challenge Jones and establish himself as the undisputed heavyweight king. Aspinall recently shared his growing frustration, admitting he`s “had enough” of the prolonged wait for the 37-year-old champion.
Curtis Blaydes, responding to news of Aspinall`s impatience, voiced his strong opinion on his Instagram story: “Can’t even blame him. At this point, Jon should be stripped. End of discussion.”
While many fans seem to agree with Blaydes` call for action, Dana White`s recent comments make it clear that the UFC has no current intention of stripping Jon Jones of his heavyweight title.
