Boxer Chris Eubank Jr and promoter Frank Warren have reached an amicable agreement, resolving the legal action initiated by Warren following Eubank`s controversial remarks last September.
During a press conference ahead of the Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol fight, Eubank, 35, heavily criticised several prominent UK promoters, reportedly labelling some as `scumbags`.
While figures like Eddie Hearn were mentioned, it was the head of Queensberry Promotions, Frank Warren, who subsequently filed a defamation lawsuit.
Warren`s decision to pursue legal action was primarily motivated by more serious accusations made by Eubank, beyond just the `scumbag` insult.
Recognising the potential repercussions, Eubank, a former world title contender, later issued a public apology via social media, withdrawing his earlier statements as `inaccurate`.
Despite Warren publicly accepting the apology, the legal proceedings against Eubank (35-3, 25 KOs) continued, and their relationship remained strained, with Warren notably critical of Eubank.
The tension was particularly evident during the build-up to Eubank`s fight against Conor Benn in April, a bout Warren often discussed with frustration, expressing a desire to see Benn defeat the middleweight.
However, it appears the two parties have now resolved their differences. Queensberry Promotions announced via social media today that a mutual understanding has been reached.
The statement shared online confirmed: “Frank Warren and Chris Eubank Jr confirm that the defamation proceedings against Chris Eubank Jr have been settled amicably.”
It concluded by stating that with the legal matters concluded, “both Frank Warren and Chris Eubank Jr look forward to a positive, professional relationship in the future.”
