Preview Canelo Discusses Munguia’s Positive Test Finding

Following 47 professional boxing matches, Jaime Munguia is reportedly facing a significant challenge outside of the ring. It was disclosed earlier this week that an initial drug test sample from the Mexican fighter returned an adverse analytical finding after his recent victory over Bruno Surace. Undisputed super-middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez has now shared his thoughts on the situation concerning his stablemate.

During a media engagement for his “No Golf, No Life” event, Canelo was asked by ESPN`s Salvador `Chava` Rodriguez for his opinion on the unfortunate incident.

Rodriguez invited Canelo to offer support for Jaime Munguia and trainer Eddy Reynoso. After briefly commending cyclist Isaac del Toro, Canelo turned his attention to the boxing matter.

“Obviously, concerning Munguia, we stand by him 100%,” Canelo stated, based on available translations.

“Ultimately, only he truly knows what transpired. It`s easy for people to cast blame on Eddy, but Eddy is not the one supplying him with supplements. Eddy is not giving him his food or anything he has to consume, so people need to understand this clearly. Eddy`s role is simply training him, nothing more. Some time ago, I actually told Eddy, `If you`re going to take on a fighter and manage everything, you would have to handle their diet, supplementation, and everything else. Why? To prevent these very things from happening to *you*.` This has occurred in the past, and they always end up blaming the Canelo team.”

Canelo concluded by emphatically restating that Eddy Reynoso serves solely as the trainer and is not involved in providing any additional supplementation. His response aimed to send a clear message from the Canelo team in response to accusations circulating within the boxing community.

The context for Canelo`s remarks was the fourth year of his “Torneo No Boxing No Life,” a golf event hosted by the boxing star at Mexico`s luxurious Bosque Real Country Club. While Canelo enjoyed the golfing event, Jaime Munguia is likely focused on the challenging process of cooperating with testing agencies and working to clear his name of any alleged wrongdoing.
