Preview Canelo Admits Beating Crawford Would Be A Career Highlight

The highly anticipated boxing match between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford, set for 2025, is being billed as the year`s biggest event. Canelo, the Mexican boxing icon, has stated that defeating Crawford would be a major highlight in his already distinguished career.

With a professional record of 63-2-2 (39 KOs), Canelo has built an impressive legacy. He has held titles in four weight classes, unified divisions twice as an undisputed champion, and secured notable victories against opponents like Gennadiy Golovkin, Sergey Kovalev, and Miguel Cotto.

When the possibility of fighting Crawford, the undefeated undisputed welterweight champion (41-0, 30 KOs), was first suggested, Alvarez initially appeared hesitant. He reportedly felt that a win against a naturally smaller fighter from the 147lb division wouldn`t significantly enhance his legacy.

However, the fight has now been officially confirmed. It is scheduled for Saturday, September 13, at the large Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, which holds 65,000 spectators, and will be streamed globally on Netflix.

Given that this event is expected to be the biggest boxing spectacle of the year, the anticipation and build-up for the meeting of these two elite pound-for-pound fighters are already underway.

In a recent interview, Canelo stated that defeating Crawford, known as `Bud,` would be considered `one of his best` victories by the time his professional career reaches 68 fights.

He quoted, “It is going to be one of the top five.”

As the fight date approaches, discussions about potential undercard bouts are emerging, including speculation about an exciting heavyweight matchup being planned for the Las Vegas event`s four-fight main card.
