Former world super-featherweight title challenger Zelfa Barrett is set to fight again this Saturday, June 7th. The bout will be available for live, free viewing.
Barrett is scheduled to face Mexico`s Cristian Bielma in the main event of Steve Wood’s VIP Promotions card at the Bolton Whites Hotel. Barrett, 31, aims to bounce back following a defeat to Jazza Dickens in February. He has since changed trainers, now working with Joe Gallagher after splitting with Pat Barrett.
Joe Gallagher takes on the task of helping Barrett reach his full potential. Barrett possesses world-class skill and nearly captured the IBF world title three years ago against Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov. In a memorable fight supporting Dmitry Bivol vs. Gilberto Ramirez, Barrett dropped Rakhimov in the third round, but Rakhimov recovered to secure a ninth-round stoppage victory.
Cristian Bielma, Barrett`s opponent, has previously faced top-level fighters such as Luis Alberto Lopez and Angel Fierro. True to Mexican fighting spirit, he is expected to put up a tough challenge and try for an upset win.
