Preview Alex Pereira Inks New Multi-Fight Deal Ahead of Historic UFC White House Event

Alex Pereira, a fighter frequently called upon by the UFC to step into the octagon on relatively short notice, has maintained an exceptionally busy schedule since his arrival in the promotion in November 2021, averaging four fights per calendar year.

The acclaimed former middleweight titleholder and two-time light heavyweight champion has made the unprecedented decision to relinquish his 205-pound belt to ascend to the heavyweight division. There, he will pursue an extraordinary third UFC championship. Pereira is set to clash with former interim heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane in the co-main event of the UFC 250 Freedom fight card, scheduled to take place at the White House on June 14, with an interim title on the line.

Prior to his momentous walk from the Oval Office to the octagon, Pereira finalized a new eight-fight agreement with the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Speaking about his decision and the new contract, Pereira expressed that his primary desire was to vacate his belt and compete in the heavyweight division for a championship. He highlighted that after communicating his aspirations for a heavyweight bout, the promotion showed exceptional responsiveness and care.

“They presented me with a new contract, and I am genuinely very pleased with it,” Pereira remarked. He extended his gratitude to Mick Maynard, Hunter Campbell, and Dana White for their role in securing the deal. Pereira further elaborated that the terms of this new agreement were so favorable that he felt completely comfortable letting go of his previous championship, emphasizing that the UFC management took outstanding care of him and he fully trusts their decisions.
