The Professional Fighters League (PFL) is set to hold an event in France on September 26th. The promotion announced that the card, taking place in Nantes, will be headlined by local fighter Abdoul Abdouraguimov. His opponent for the main event has not yet been confirmed.
This upcoming event will mark the PFL`s first time returning to France since previous attempts were cancelled. Two planned shows in the capital, Paris, were ultimately called off, including one scheduled for May 26th of this year.
In addition to the main event, the fight card in Nantes will feature the semifinal rounds of the PFL Europe lightweight and bantamweight tournaments. The victors of these tournament bouts will earn their place in the finals, which are scheduled for December 13th in Lyon, competing for a $100,000 prize.
Abdoul Abdouraguimov, known by his nickname “Lazy King,” was born in Dagestan but currently resides and trains in Nantes. He has compiled a strong record under the PFL Europe banner since 2023, most notably securing a decision victory over UFC veteran Laureano Staropoli in December.
In a statement released regarding the event, Abdouraguimov expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “PFL is coming home… After 21 professional fights, I can finally fight in front of my home crowd, where I grew up and learned this sport… I’m here to entertain you on September 26, let’s go!”
Abdouraguimov is currently on an impressive nine-fight winning streak. Before joining PFL, he competed in Ares FC, where he achieved status as a two-division champion, holding titles at both welterweight and middleweight. His wins there included quick finishes against experienced fighters like Godofredo Pepey and Karl Amoussou.
